VelociMouse ™

We have developed a method for the laser-assisted injection of ES cells into 8-cell stage mouse embryos that efficiently yields F0 generation mice that are fully ES cell-derived. The 8-cell injection method is equally effective using either male or female ES cells and can produce F0 mice from common inbred or hybrid ES cell lines. The fully ES cell-derived mice, which we refer to as VelociMice, are normal, healthy, and exhibit 100% germ-line transmission.

Because VelociMice can be used directly for phenotypic analyses, they greatly accelerate the timelines for studying gene function in vivo. The VelociMouse method enables the engineering of mice directly from inbred ES cells carrying multiple genetic alterations as an alternative to combining alleles by lengthy and inefficient breeding schemes.
